A mental health super power is your response to uncomfortable emotions. I love this one as it seems to resonate for so many people. If you feel that familiar rise of anxiety when you head out to meet friends, respond with this,
“Thank you anxiety, for trying to keep me safe. But I don’t need to worry about this today. I’m safe. I got this.”
Repeat repeat repeat inside your head or out loud. Allow the feeling to be there and just let it know it is mistaken and you are in the driving seat. Have seen this one become an absolute go-to skill for people. One to use in the moment when anxiety strikes. Would love to hear what others think. When trying a new skill, commit to it for at least a week and then reflect. If it works for you, great. If it’s not for you, ditch it and try something new.
Absolutely going to give this a try this week!
